A WHO study found that over 100m people are still pushed into extreme poverty because of health expenses. We know from our own on-the-ground analysis that fear of financial ruin and spiralling health costs is a key factor that stops patients from getting health support, essential treatments and adhering to treatment. Achieving health for all and financial inclusion go hand in hand.
We’ve made accelerating access to financial services a key focus. We collaborate with financial services organisations to increase financial literacy and understanding, innovate digital financial solutions such as mobile payment applications, and expand access to affordable health and life insurance products. For example, in India our partnership with Aditya Birla Health Insurance has enabled almost 10,000 rural residents to purchase affordable health insurance to protect their families and livelihoods.
